Speed Drills for High School Athletes

Purpose:

This training is designed to increase reaction capabilities and acceleration speed of the athlete.

  1. 10-Yard Sprint

  2. 20-Yard Sprint

Purpose:

This training is designed to increase reaction capabilities and maximal speed of the athlete

  1. 30-Yard Sprint

  2. 40-Yard Sprint

Lower Extremity Functional Test (LEFT)

Purpose: This training is designed to improve lateral speed and agility. 

Setup: Two cones are placed 10 yards apart. 

  1. Start behind one cone and sprint to the next.

  2. Run backwards to the start cone.

  3. Side Shuffle to the end cone.

  4. Side Shuffle to the start cone.

  5. Carioca to the end cone.

  6. Carioca to the start cone.

  7. Sprint to end cone and record time.
